Silver Swans - Anyone’s Ghost (The National Cover) [download]

I’ve been watching one of ABC’s new television series, Revenge, and heard this interesting cover by a San Francisco dream pop duo. Thought I’d share :)

p.s. Pan Am is good too!

The Antlers - Putting The Dog To Sleep

The Antlers - Putting the Dog to Sleep

So much raw emotion in this song. A true crooner ballad about forgiving but not forgetting.

Phantogram - new songs

one of many highlights from outside lands was hearing new tracks from phantogram. new EP expected in september, i believe.

“16 Years”

“Don’t move”

Zee Avi - Concrete Wall

Zee Avi - Concrete Walls

Really digging Zee Avi’s sophomore album. A good of mix of upbeat and chill tracks with unique elements here and there. Currently on spinner and kcrw

“Boom sha clack clack”

Givers - Atlantic

i love love love this track. period.

if you plan on being in socal in august, don’t miss out on what sounds like an awesome dance party, literally…lots of great remixing artists! c’mon, fred falke, the twelves…*sigh*. don’t forget to check out the festival’s playlist too.

too bad i can’t be in two places at once! instead, i’ll be taking a stroll through golden gate park. but it looks like phantogram and toro y moi will be doing double duty!

it’s a official….i’m going!!! :)

i have attended absolutely ZERO concerts in 2011. it’s time to make up for lost time!

So many acts I like…and I’m not going =(

Seriously, I could stand in front of the indie stage all day! There’s La Sera, Morning Benders, NewVillager, Best Coast, Ra Ra Riot…then I would hop over to catch Kisses. Honestly, I’m really bummed to miss this awesome lineup which sort of gives you that throwback beachy feel. Perfect for sunny socal…home, i miss you!

btw, did i mention that this is FREE?!!!!

Small Black - Photojournalist [unofficial music video]

better than the original. i love how the film is slowed down to match the laziness of the track. hmm, i sorta wanna make colorful paper planes now.

p.s. i’m not really a huge fan of bright tights for myself, but it works well here.

Outasight - Never Say Never

  What a great cover

Agreed!

Deadmau5 - Raise Your Weapon (Madeon Remix) @ Pete Tong 05.13.11 (BBC Radio 1)

Seriously…can’t wait for this track to be officially released. Madeon is one talented 16 year old French kid.

His remix of Yelle’s “Que Veux Tu” was definitely on my heavy rotation list a while back. Yelle - Que Veux Tu (Madeon Remix) by Madeon

p.s. check out this week’s Pete Tong program…such a good selection of electronic dance music to keep your weekend on the up and up.

Other Lives - Tamer Animals

a very cinematic album that makes me go ”fleet foxes who?”. honestly, i can’t tell if there’s even a single bad track on this album. everything just works! plus, i love that it’s heavy on the percussion and has an orchestral vibe to it. seriously…this is a beautifully crafted album!

LMNTL - I'm Not the Girl (feat. Angela McCluskey)

LMNTL - I’m Not The Girl (Feat. Angela McCluskey)

I know commercial aren’t everybody’s favorite. It’s a business medium that disrupts your focus with the attempts to brainwash yourself in thinking you want the latest new gizmo, service, or lifestyle. Nonetheless, it serves as an additional avenue to introduce snippets of decent tunes. Here is the one from the Schick Quattro Trim Style commercial.

When I google searched for the song, I was pleasantly surprised to find out that Angela McCluskey was the singer behind the vocals. I’ve been a fan of her collaborations with Telepopmusik. To this day, “Breathe” is still one of my favorite tracks…ever! Also check out “Smile” :)
